Refugee Employment Integration Project
Finding a job is a crucial part of the integration process for refugees and asylum seekers. In order to support our guests at JNRC in settling and getting familiar with the Italian job market we have initiated a series of weekly Prep Talks held by entrepreneurs and sector operators. Hereby we aim to strengthen our well-established JNRC WORKS program, where refugees and asylum seekers can find support in writing CVs and searching for open Job positions.
The Refugee Employment Integration project aims to create a direct link between the local business sector, and the community of refugees and asylum seekers in Rome, Lazio, and more broadly within the Italian context.
The JNRC WORKS program is the cornerstone of this effort, twice a week the volonteers involved are present at the JNRC in order to offer in person assistance to guests with several of the many steps necessary on the journey of finding stable regular employment.
The JobClinic Online, which has recently benefitted from an update, is an essential tool used by JNRC WORKS operators as well as guests to streamline the process of writing ones CV and circulating it to companies.
This online tool speeds up considerably the matching of labor supply and demand, but behind this, the development of soft skills and a familiarisation with the italian job market is key.
Through the JNRC WORKS program, the Refugee Employment Intergation Project organises one-on-one meetings with project beneficiaries for the drafting of skills balances and resumes; the definition of training pathways such as vocational courses or internships; job interview preparation; as well as weekly Prep-Talks with entrepreneurs from specific labor sectors.
Refugees and Asylum Seekers receive the opportunity to interact directly with professionals from the Italian Job market, breaking down cultural barriers, to regain confidence and motivation and to find job opportunities.
Enterpreneurs learn about the potential of JNRC’s guests, get to know the team of experts who train and select potential candidates for employment and, above all, experience the human dimension of the migratory phenomenon.
Monthly Job Search Workshops with the purpose of providing our guests with all the necessary information to succeed in their job search, JNRC has partnered up with Job4Good, an Italian online platform, that aims at matching workers with job vacancies in the social sector. On a monthly basis our partners from Job4Good hold a workshop at JNRC, introducing refugees and asylum seekers to a broad range of topics as CV writing, Job Interviews or norms and standards of the Italian Job market.
